Scania is undergoing a transformation, shifting from its traditional role of supplying trucks, buses, and engines to providing comprehensive and sustainable transport solutions. As part of this transition, Scania is seeking a new Head for its Data Protection Office, a crucial position responsible for supporting the business in matters related to privacy and data protection.

What we offer you

As the Head of the Data Protection Office, you will work in a company that is at the forefront of digitalization, electrification, and environmental awareness. As part of our journey of change and development, we are now set to integrate with other brands within the Traton Group, which also includes MAN, Volkswagen Truck & Bus, and Navistar, build a new facility in China, and expand our collaboration with the USA. We are leading in digitalization; for instance, our extensive Scania fleet of vehicles generates vast amounts of personal data, creating exciting challenges from a data privacy perspective.

At the same time, there is extensive legal development in the field, such as the AI Act and Data Act, which will impose new requirements on the operations.

In your role as Head of Data Protection, you will therefore face comprehensive and very exciting challenges in a global operation, where your task will be to integrate Data Privacy and Data Protection into this development.

Scania offers a dynamic workplace with diverse and challenging tasks in a hybrid work setup, enabling remote work a few days a week, if suitable for the role. Furthermore, we provide an individual development plan to support you in achieving your goals. Scania also offers comprehensive benefits including health allowances and performance bonuses.

About the Position

In this role, you will operate within an international setting, yet your primary team will be based at Scania’s headquarters in Södertälje. Your responsibilities will include overseeing and enhancing Scania’s data protection program, as well as spearheading collaboration among privacy officers and data protection coordinators throughout the organization. Additionally, you will play a key role in facilitating data protection initiatives across TRATON Group. Reporting to the Head of Scania’s Group Legal & Compliance function, you will hold a pivotal position in safeguarding Scania’s legal and regulatory compliance efforts.

In your role as Head of Data Protection Office, you will, among other things, be responsible for the following:

  • Own and manage Scania’s global privacy program, ensuring privacy compliance across all units worldwide.
  • Develop and maintain Scania’s policies, processes, methods, and tools related to data protection, including the management system for data protection, to support the global organization.
  • Provide guidance and instructions on data protection and privacy matters to Scania’s organization, including conducting relevant risk assessments, training sessions, and monitoring activities.
  • Lead the Scania Privacy Forum, serving as the central hub for data protection within the organization.
  • Manage and oversee the Data Protection Office, which comprises a dynamic team including Privacy Specialists, Paralegals, and Scania’s Data Protection Officer.
  • Serve as a member of the Leadership team within Group Legal & Compliance.
  • Lead the TRATON Group Brand Privacy Forum for collaboration and development of common processes, methods and tools.

Who Are We Looking For?

We are looking for someone with a university degree in law, information technology, or information security and with at least 10 years of relevant experience in a similar role at an international company, law firm, regulatory authority, or equivalent setting.

You have extensive leadership experience as a member of a management team and experience in supporting and managing personal data protection under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

Additionally, you should have a working knowledge of other international legislation or guidelines on data privacy, such as those in the US or China. Your expertise should extend to privacy risk management and oversight of governance and controls to effectively manage privacy risks at both EU and global levels.

Furthermore, you should demonstrate extensive familiarity with relevant legislation and standards for data protection, personal information protection, as well as information security and related topics. Since the area of data protection is undergoing extensive development, it is also important that you are curious and interested in the overall progress, such as regarding new legislation like the Data Act and AI Act, and how this affects the company’s operations.
