Nasdaq is looking for a Senior Associate General Counsel to join our European Legal and Regulatory Team. You will work with a wide spectrum of legal and regulatory matters affecting Nasdaq’s regulated business in Europe, with a focus on Nasdaq’s European central counterparty clearing and derivatives exchange businesses. In addition, the role will more generally support Nasdaq´s regulated financial market infrastructure businesses with a focus on the Nordic and Baltic regions.

You need a solid background and experience in laws, regulations and guidelines in the financial regulatory areas. In particular, knowledge of regulatory frameworks such as EMIR and MiFID/MiFIR and related regulations/acts are needed. Furthermore, you have an interest and knowledge of the securities market and the financial market infrastructures Nasdaq operates, and an understanding of cross-border legal matters to guide internal clients and management with your professional expertise. You also need to be able to work independently in multiple projects at the same time, effectively handle stakeholders and thrive in a constantly evolving working environment.

Key Responsibilities

In this position as Senior Associate General Counsel, you will be part of a strong and experienced legal team located throughout the Nordic and Baltic region, working with a focus on supporting Nasdaq’s European CCP and Exchanges in particular relating to their derivatives business. Here, you will:

  • Be the lead lawyer for Nasdaq’s European clearinghouse (CCP) and derivatives exchange. This involves legal and regulatory analysis and support in product design, development of business ideas and handling and advising on legal risk in day to day operations.
  • Work with legal and regulatory matters at one of the top tier providers of listings, exchange, trading and clearing services, data, and technology, with a focus on our Nordic and Baltic markets.
  • Continuously stay updated on legal and regulatory developments and international trends, as well as proactively identifying and driving policy matters.
  • Collaborate with the team throughout the Baltic and Nordic region as well as the US team to further improve the business globally.

Skills And Requirements

To thrive in this role, besides having a genuine curiosity about the financial markets and sharing our view that an efficient regulation is a cornerstone of well-functioning markets, we believe that you have:

  • An LL.M. (Master of Laws)
  • Approximately 5-10 years of professional experience
  • International experience, working e.g. for a European law firm, a European regulated entity, or a European financial supervisory authority
  • Ability to explain and advise your stakeholders on complex legal matters
  • Ability to quickly learn new areas of law
  • Ability to independently drive projects and initiatives
  • Working proficiency in the English language, knowledge in additional Nordic language is a merit
  • Experience of financial regulation
  • Highly developed social competence with the ability to communicate clearly

About Nasdaq Stockholm

This role is located in Stockholm. Nasdaq’s Stockholm office is located in the harbor area of Frihamnen, we have a private commuter shuttle running in the morning and evening hours between the office and the Karlaplan metro-stop. Our office offers free parking, secure bike storage and bike/e-bike lending. The office also features a gym and recreational sports room, as well as a restaurant and snack shop. In the end of 2025, we are moving to a new modern office space in the city center (Mäster Samuelsgatan).
